DOUBLE BRONZE!

Kwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 20.03.2016

Deon Lendore completed his IAAF World Indoor Championship campaign in Portland, Oregon, USA with two bronze medals.

On the final day of the global meet, yesterday, Lendore anchored Trinidad and Tobago to third spot in the men's 4x400 metres final in a national indoor record time of three minutes, 05.51 seconds. United States produced a dominant performance, capturing gold in 3:02.45, well ahead of Bahamas, silver medallists in 3:04.75. The Bahamians also established a new national indoor record.

Jarrin Solomon, Lalonde Gordon and Ade Alleyne-Forte, in that order, ran the first three legs for T&T, setting the stage for the record run.

The 4x4 bronze was T&T's third in the 31-year history of the meet, emulating the third-place finishes of the 1993 and 2012 teams. Gordon and Solomon were also members of the 2012 quartet. T&T's all-time IAAF World Indoor Championship haul is five—four bronze medals and a solitary silver.
